National Commission for Minorities have sought report from the authorities concerned on the suicide case of a final degree student at Malabar Christian College,Kozhikode.
Jaspreet Singh,a final year degree student committed suicideon Sunday.
The Commission sought a detailed report on the circumstaces that led to the suicide of the student-said NCM Vice Chairman George Kurian.
He asked report from DGP,Kozhikode District Collector,and Kozhikode City Police Commissioner.
Her freinds,classmates and relatives have been shocked since the news of his death.
He was an active student at the campus.The reason behind his suicde is unknown.However,some of his friends have alleged that she was disappointed as her attendance shortage, barred her from attending her final degree exam.
While Calicut University stipulates at least 75 per cent of attendance, Jaspreet had only 68 per cent.
BA Economics student, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his apartment near the Court Complex by his mother at 12.30pm.
Students’ protest is developing in the campus alleging that Singh’s death is due to the mental harassment by the college authorities.
Jaspreet Singh’s family came from Punjab and later settled in Kozhikode.His father is running a Punjabi restaurant in the city.
